Although an estimated 8.3% of the US population, about 25.8 billion people, has some form of diabetes, it is rarely the subject of malpractice suits. It is, however, a contributory condition in many cases. This illustrated lecture explores this disease and considers the role of diabetes in poor medical outcomes, from shoulder dystocia, to heart disease, wound healing, neuropathy, and blindness among many others.
